The Carolyn Ericson Award for Preservation of Historic Resources
Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. is committed to recognizing those who have help identify, preserve, and promote the historic resources (sites, structures, landscapes, artifacts, and archival materials) vital to the history of Nacogdoches. This award is named in honor of Carolyn Ericson whose geneaological work has documented the past of not just Nacogdoches but many counties across Texas. Carolyn and her husband, Joe, published hundreds!!! of titles making the past easily accessible in the decades prior to online resources such as Ancestry.com and other popular internet based sites of today. This award is given every two years so that we alternate with the Stone Fort Museum which gives a similar yet different award on alternate years.
On January 14th FoHNI presented its 2024 Carolyn Ericson Award to Dr. Jere L. and Sarah R. Jackson for their preservation of Nacogdoches's history. Thank you to the approximately fifty people who braved the incoming Artic blast to attend the event!
